HVAC Technician I
JOB Title: HVAC Technician I
SUPERVISED BY: Facilities Manager
Summary of Job Description Troubleshoot, operate and maintain all district facilities systems and equipment to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all students, staff, and visitors. Assist in making sound
decisions regarding work schedules, contractor involvement, and cost effectiveness of building improvements/changes.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist HVAC Technician II with the District preventive maintenance program including scheduling, monitoring and participating in the program and making appropriate changes to the system to ensure all equipment is properly documented.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair/replace the District’s direct digital (DDC) including hardware such as logic cards, main boards, valve/damper actuators, relays, sensors, etc. and software including control logic and programming. Respond to after hours emergencies and/or service calls related to DDC systems.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair/replace the District HVAC systems, equipment and controls associated with them, including air handling units, fan coil units, unit ventilators, variable air volume systems, boilers, pumps, variable frequency drives, valves, dampers, etc. Respond to after hours emergencies and/or service calls related to HVAC systems.
- Assist other Maintenance personnel in the performance of their duties by helping them in repairs to plumbing, carpentry, carpeting, etc. with mechanical/electrical systems and/or by offering technical advice.
- Operate snow removal equipment in the performance of snow removal duties for parking lots.
- Demonstrates the commitment to build and maintain a safe, fair and respectful working and learning environment that honors the cultural diversity of students and staff.
- Respond to emergency calls, determine nature of problem and see that the necessary Repairs are completed. Carry emergency cell phone and respond to off-hour emergencies On a one-week rotating basis year-round.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus technical courses in HVAC and microcomputers
Three years of experience or combined experience/education with HVAC and direct digital control systems, preferable Siemens Apogee System 600
Experience with all phases of facilities operations and maintenance, including general maintenance, plumbing and electrical systems
HVAC preferred
Ability to speak and read English
