The District Translator/District Family & Community Liaison will lead district-level translation and interpretation services by using written and oral skills in both English and Spanish to support district-level departments’ communications and outreach, as well as working with families and scholars to facilitate support. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality translation of district-wide written communications and oral interpretation services; managing available interpreters for district meetings, activities, or events; and supporting community relations and family connection.

  • Provide written English-Spanish translation of official district or school communications and documents for both internal and external audiences
  • Provide oral English-Spanish interpretation of official district meetings, activities, or events for school and district-related matters
  • Utilizing oral and written skills in English and Spanish to assist staff in communicating with students and parents
  • Assist District departments and schools in providing translation or interpretation services
  • Provide translation and interpretation services for all district and school emergency communications including Summit County Alerts (scalert.org), e-mails, website(s), radio, television and newspaper (when needed) on-call as needed
  • Coordinate hiring and scheduling of interpretation services and available interpreters. Coordinate interpretation services for district and school events by scheduling language services
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of communication between district programs and the community
  • Coordinate and implement outreach to traditionally non-participating families and community members
  • Support activity and event creation, facilitation, coordination, outreach, and planning
  • Work with parents/students to discuss home learning activities, to clarify information, to make referrals to agencies, to arrange for and make home visits
  • Assist Emergency Response in translating and dispersing emergency response procedures; parent and student response training activities; and other Emergency Response Committee needs
  • Observe and Counsel translators and interpreters as to the appropriate terminology to be used in district situations and advise of the best practices, processes and behavior while offering interpretation services
  • Schedule home visits requested by school personnel and participate as necessary
  • Work with Communications Team to field inquiries, coordinate projects, and provide services to the district and schools
  • Audit time reports for services. Process paperwork to pay for translation or interpretation services
  • Support high-quality customer service by assisting Central Administration Office visitors and phone calls
  • Make referrals to appropriate agencies as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Hiring Range: $22.48 - $28.42
