Under the direction of the athletic director and head coach, and in accordance with District policies, procedures, and CHSAA regulations, the assistant coach shall be responsible for the phases of the program for which they are hired, all responsibilities as assigned by the athletic director, the head coach and his/her players. 

  • Roles and Responsibilities

    1. Support the head coach and coahcing staff.
    2. Impress upon the athlete that his/her major obligation is that of a student and then an athlete. .
    3. Is a positive role model at all times as well as an exemplary representative of the program, Summit High School, and our community.
    4. Provides the athletic director/head coach with information pertaining to his/her program. This includes athlete, team, or parent situations that may arise.
    5. Supports Athletic Department policies.
    6. Assista with supervision of locker room areas, indoor and outdoor activity areas until all team members have vacated school property.  (This includes practice and game days, including return from an away contest.)
    7. Assists with monitoring safety of facilities. Reports concerns immediately to the athletic director/head coach.
    8. Follows all guidelines set by Summit HS Athletic Trainer.
    9. Will be a professional in education and will conduct themselves as such at all times.
    10. Will work to develop honest and fair rapport with student-athletes, parents, coaching staff, and school administration and staff. 
    11. Complies with rules and regulations as established by Summit School District, the League, and the Colorado High School Activities Association.
    12. Is encouraged to attend athletic workshops, clinics and maintain the current knowledge base in the sport.
    13. Will maintain CHSAA certification as a coach as well as First Aid and CPR certification.
    14. Refrains from the use of drugs, tobacco, and alcoholic beverages while in direct contact with students.
    15. Attends other school-sponsored events when possible.
    16. Will use professional discretion in speaking with the media.
    17. Demonstrates the commitment to build and maintaining a safe, fair, and respectful working and learning environment that honors the cultural diversity of students and staff

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma preferred
    • Previous coaching experience preferred

    Stipend Based Pay or Volunteer dependant on head coach's determination
