SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: Perform housekeeping services to maintain a clean and safe environment for students and staff. Maintain an attractive appearance for all buildings and grounds (e.g. grounds, walks, windows, etc.).

Frequency

I.     Inspect with the use of checklist. Report as needed to the supervisor the need to replace/repair materials and complete minor maintenance including, but not limited to the following:

•        Morning grounds and school inspection for general conditions, site safety and possible hazards

•        Playground safety inspection

•        Monitor central plant, boilers - maintain logbook and report unacceptable variations

•        Maintain proper Material Safety Data Sheet book for all chemical cleaning chemicals in the building

•        Help facilities and grounds personnel when required

•        Maintain custodial closets, equipment and supplies in an orderly manner

•        Submit cleaning supply and lamp orders

•        Install and/or relocate marker boards, pencil sharpeners, shelves, maps, pictures

•        Purchase and install chair glides, table feet, etc.

•        Change lamps, diffusers, switch/cover plates, burned out bulbs

•        Repair lockers and locker locks

•        Manage, store, move and repair furniture and equipment

•        Minor plumbing repairs to sinks, toilets, urinals, drinking fountains

•        Minor carpet, tile and cove base repairs

•       Tighten lock and door hardware as needed

•        Plunge/auger toilets and drains

•        Clean and complete minor repairs on custodial equipment

•        Police grounds and report landscaping issues

•        Replace ceiling tiles

•        Complete painting projects

•        Inspect AED units

2. Processing of daily work orders.

3. Daily set up and take down of Cafeteria equipment along with clean up of lunch.

4. Clean school classrooms, doors, windows, chalkboards/whiteboards, trays, floors and counters and empty and reline         wastebaskets.

5. Clear all walkways of snow and ice using appropriate measures (ex: salting, chipping ice, shoveling or plowing).

6. Establish and maintain effective communication with students, staff, and the public.

D

7. Mop or buff hallways, offices, gymnasiums, cafeterias, classrooms and other areas of the building according to an established schedule.

8. Clean the building offices and lounges according to an established schedule.

D

9. Clean and disinfect all building restrooms according to an established schedule.

D

10. Identify and utilize correct cleaning materials as directed by supervisor.

11. Dust mop or vacuum the gymnasium floors according to an established schedule. After any activities, clean and push back bleachers.

12. Complete cleaning tasks and special projects after special events and during vacation periods.

13.  Cleaning areas in accordance with schedule including but not limited to the following:

•       Wash all painted wall surfaces

•        Wash all lockers inside and outside

•        Wash all shelves, counter tops, cabinet doors, sinks

•        Wash all classroom d( or, door jambs, window sills

•       Wash windows inside and outside

•       Clean traps and drains and add water/enzymes

•        Remove and wash light fixture covers and tubes

•        Clean inside teacher office area

•        Wash window blinds with soap and water

•        Shampoo carpets

•       Strip wax from tile areas, re-wax and buff

•        Wash all trash cans

•        Refinish gymnasium floors

•        Assist in school and district-wide cleaning functions and special requirements and assist with other functions as directed.

•        Use proper procedures and chemicals to clean bio-hazards

•        Setup and teardown and clean after special events. Setups may require moving and rearranging

furniture and other items required for the function.

 

14. Complete all work tasks in a safe manner.

15. Assist building staff during fire drills or emergencies. Perform other duties assigned by the Building Principal or the Facilities Director.

16. Security and needs for after school/night events.
